Hey Everyone,
I just got Michael's post about Rockin' Robert T joining the board, congrats buddy!
Sorry I haven't been on here in a while, I guess I have been busy doing other stuff, but it's all blues related! Lets see what's new, played the Bedford Blues Fest last Sunday before Buddy Whittington, lots of fun and a receptive crowd! I did go to the Shemekia Copeland/James Cotton Show at the AT&T Performing Arts Center(or Whinspeer Opera House?). It was a fun time. Really nice venue. I will say this, Shemekia's band was tight, but their selection of tunes was more of in a 70's/80's rock vein than blues. Abeit blues flavor, and a good show, don't get me wrong, just an observation. Cotton's band was augmented by Lucky Peterson on keyboards(you don't have keyboard player? you do now!). Guitarist Rico McFarland sounded more like a 'shredder' guitarist. The show was fun, and Cotton was good, reminded me of the days in the 70's when I used to hang out with his band, lots of fun memories! Speaking of Cotton, his other guitarist(a lefty Michael!) Tom Holland, came into town a few days early. he is friends with friends of mine in CHi town, so I took him for some good Vietnamese and also to the Goat for the new 'Delta Blues Experience' jam and show Tuesday night with Aaron Burton. it was lots of fun! i will be there next Tuesday with Aaron as his guest. Also next week: we will be backing up Muddy Water's eldest musical son,
Big Bill Morganfield at the Denton Blues Festival sponsored by the Denton Black Chamber of Commerce, looking forward to that! That is all I have, except tonite is Cheryl Arena's birthday bash at Tap In in downtown Grapevine with Kevin, Sonny, myself and Dave Halley on guitars,
and the birthday girl!
