John Lee Hooker "Don't Look Back"
Champion Jack Dupree "Nasty Boogie Woogie"
Stevie Ray Vaughn "Life by the Drop"
Jimmy Vaughn " Another Six Stringer Down"
Hmmm, interesting question. I'm going to have to think about this one. Whatever I post will be my top 20.

I'm thinking this list should be tunes that ALL players should know, not just your favorites. Opinions will vary but some tunes will be on everyone's list.
Here’s my shot. Pretty hard to come up with just 20. Lots of tunes to choose and lots of folks covered some these tunes.

Dust My Broom - Elmore James
The Sky is Crying - Elmore James

Pride and Joy -or- I’m Cryin’ - SRV
Empty Arms - SRV
Cold Shot - SRV
Chitlins Con Carne - SRV or Kenny Burrell

I Pity the Fool - Bobby Bland or BB King
Stormy Monday - Bobby Bland or BB King
Someday - Bobby Bland
Further On Up the Road - Bobby Bland

Little By Little - BB King
The Thrill is Gone - BB King
Caldonia - BB King
Paying the Cost to be the Boss - BB King (also check out Pat Benetar’s version on the album “True Love”)

T-Bone Shuffle - T-Bone Walker

You’ve Got to Love Her with a Feeling - Freddie King
Hide Away - Freddie King
San-Ho-Zay - Freddie King
Sen-Sa-Shun - Freddie King
I’m Tore Down - Freddie King

Kidney Stew - Dave Specter and the Bluebirds or Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson
That's a good list. I think some of those are "must know" tunes. Others, I think are debatable.

Basically, here's how I look at it. There are certain styles you have to know. You mentioned those. But basically, you need to know a standard blues shuffle, the quick 4, a rhumba, minor blues and a good slow dominant blues. Which songs you learn in those styles doesn't really matter. I have my list. Other folks have their list. I wouldn't begin to suggest a must know song in any one of those styles. But if someone wanted to know the ones I've learned, I'd be happy to share that.

What's more interesting are the songs that don't follow a standard progression listed above that you really do have to know. You've got some of those in your list below. Those include:

Stormy Monday - Bobby Bland or BB King
The Thrill is Gone - BB King
T-Bone Shuffle - T-Bone Walker

and then of course the Freddie King standards:

Hide Away - Freddie King
San-Ho-Zay - Freddie King
Sen-Sa-Shun - Freddie King

Outside of those, it basically boils down to tunes folks are playing at the jams that you might get hit with. Those would include:

Kansas City
Sweet Home Chicago
Crossroads - Eric Clapton version
Got My Mojo Working
Crosscut Saw - Albert King

If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.
