Most of the time when I am browsing member profiles I have no idea if the person is a musician, a fan, here by accident, or signed in once then sustained a head injury and forgot all about this site. The majority of the time you only see a screen name and a blank picture on a profile. I think this is a shame and a real wasted opportunity. Many of us signed up here on the ROADHOUSE 'cause it's cool and we like the idea of networking with musicians and others who share our musical interests and tastes. Unfortunately this is nearly impossible when the site is populated by John Doe (and Jane) clones, all generic Texas silhouette in place of some kind of photo. Hey, if you don't have a photo I'd be happy to lend you one of mine. This site is awesome and could be so much more so with just a little sharing by each of us on our online profile. I'm not talking about running your credit history with your social security numbers or doing background checks but how about some basic, harmless, musically related info?

Take a look at your own profile and please consider maybe sharing one or two of the following tidbits if you haven't already:

Musician or Fan?
What instrument(s) do you play?
Vocalist?
What level player are you?
What is it you're looking for on the site?

If you're still reading at this point, Thanks for hearing me out.
Hope to see some updated profiles out there soon and who knows, maybe I'll meet a couple of you good people out there.

Mark

Good idea Mark. I've updated my profile. If all the musicians do this, we'll have a nice online registry of Texas Blues musicians. I can see that adding a lot of value to the site. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll ask the folks I know to update their profiles.
This got me thinking. I always assume most members are musicians but there must be a mix.
Also, I think we may all play to some level, tough to put a label on it. One thought I had was to see if any of the musician are interested in hosting a session with players who aren’t up to playing in public, yet.
I have a possible venue, and would like to see how playing with a band would work out.

Hey Ray,

That's one of the main reasons I started this site ... networking. We just gotta raise the bar a little and get some more activity on the site. I've added two chat windows now, one of the main page and one on a page all it's own. The one on the main page will show you who's online so that you can start to figure out who uses the site most often. And the second allows both audio and video. Plus on the dedicated chat page, you can even open your own room if you want to just chat with a select group of people about a project you're trying to pull together like this one.

Spread the word. Lets get this place hoppin'.
