Permalink Reply by Michael Schaefer on February 3, 2010 at 7:08pm Mine is "Texas Flood" I learned the bass part from a transcription (music, not tablature) in one of those guitar magazines. I had been taking lessons and learning to read music, but hadn't had much success "sight" reading. I didn't really sight read this either, but it was the first time I took a piece of bass sheet music and learned to play a song from it. It gave me quite a sense of accomplishment and spurred me to keep playing and studying. Up until that time I really liked listening to the blues. That song and learning it on bass was the start of me liking to play the blues.
Permalink Reply by Dusty Duncan on April 2, 2010 at 2:07pm I love "Little Wing". No disrepect to Jimi, but SRV's version makes my heart soar.
For years, whenever I am down, it picks me up.
Tried mastering it myself, but nothing compares to the master. :)
Permalink Reply by Rockin' Robert T. on January 8, 2011 at 12:43am I'm partial to Little Wing also- Melodic- Andy Timmons also ,does an awesome verson but , As Natilie commented, not taking anything away from Hendrix, Stevies version in my opinion is far the best- Then of coarse, although not the writter I lovve Stevies arrangement og Tin Pan Alley-rrt- Didn't some one mention the idea of nominating Stevie Ray for the blues/Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?? Capital Idea!!
A toss up between Tin Pan Alley & Voodoo Chile. Stevie did an awesome job on both of those songs. I was just playing Voodoo Chile yesterday at an open jam! All of his stuff has so much feeling, that's why I like it!
