(Biased, Conflict of interest, etc - so I wont say no more)
But really, the folks there are just about the nicest in town. I go even when I'm not on the payroll.
Next is a toss up between the:
Mo Stevens' Jam @ Theos in Grand Prairie (chicken fried steak!), and
Tony DeCiccio's Jam @ the Goat on mondays.
Both of places have absolutely no "Blues Nazi-ing." You can take your blues and funk it up, boogie down, rock it out, or just leave your blues inside that old box full of 1-4-5 shuffles and grinders. What I really like is that the crowd and fellow musician's are there with you there on the stage, they give a nod, a smile or a wink if you mess up, but overall they are rooting for you to do good, aint no hatin' goin' on here!

Any good blues jams in the Northern or NW Ft. Worth area? I've never played at an actual blues jam and would love to find a good one to go to once in a while. I don't want to have to worry about people cutting heads or big egos. I just want to go and have fun, play, and learn from some of the players in the area...
Guitar and amp would be your best bet. Never know what might be available.
Another option is Sunday nights at the Cowtown Bar and Grill, corner of Alta Mere and Camp Bowie. This is a jam hosted by Tracy Tyler on Drums, Mike Brown on Bass and yours truly on guitar. Really laid back and fun time every Sunday night. it is another 8pm start.

Good to see you back on here. Yeah, Righteous, you should check out Michael's jam. It's in your neck of the woods. And he's a great player. Worth it to just show up and hear him play if you get the chance.

Permalink Reply by James Roosa on June 21, 2011 at 5:00pm Just to clarify - The Jailhouse jam takes place every Sunday.
Great place - Great people. Our first time there, my wife and I were bored on a Sunday, and went strolling through Old Town Spring - She heard live music, so we followed it over to the Jailhouse, where The Charlie Parker band was finishing up their opening set. We felt a little out of place at first (me in my plaid shorts...) but we hung out and caught some great acts. A couple weeks later we found ourselves there again. Being the "new guy" Charlie didn't trust loaning me his guitar (HA!)... So, I ran home and grabbed my stuff. Jammed with some great cats, and crowd was very welcoming to the "Newbie". Since then, it's become my regular Sunday afternoon hangout. We've played a couple opening spots there, and now we've got our first full gig there on July 2nd. Looking forward to it.
Also, thanks to the connections I've made through Jailhouse, I'm replacing Eddie Van Halen in some band called Van Halen, and Valerie Bertinelli is trying to "Friend" me on Facebook...
Ok, some of those facts might have been made up.... But, my band IS playing there on July 2nd.
And if you ever need some awesome back-beats, Tim Hutto is usually there. He even knows a couple front-beats too.
