Sounds like a place I would like to check out-SMILES_+rrt
Any good blues jams in the Northern or NW Ft. Worth area? I've never played at an actual blues jam and would love to find a good one to go to once in a while. I don't want to have to worry about people cutting heads or big egos. I just want to go and have fun, play, and learn from some of the players in the area...
Terrence- I don't know much about Ft. Worth, but there are a couple of pretty good open mic Jams in Dallas- A great one is at Strokers Ice house (prolly google for address) or make TBR Friendship with Kenny Chavez and he can tell you how to getr there on Wednesdays from 7 til 11 pm. Another is The Cottage Lounge Blues Jam Sponsored by Jimmy Mac and The Bulldogs Band starting at 9 pm on Fridays-Make TBR Friendship with Chuck Mayo and he can give you location and details of jams-pretty good bunch of guys jam there and you also never know who is gonna show up so as far as egos go-heck my most musicians around here are pretty good folk like yourselves-but you know there is prolly gonna be one guy somewhere,,,,,,,,heheee- so I usually just ignore it and do my thing enloy and move on-later my friends-rrt

My Fav is the  Bulldogs Jam, Fridays 9pm, Cottage Lounge - OF COURSE :)

(Biased, Conflict of interest, etc - so I wont say no more)

But really, the folks there are just about the nicest in town. I go even when I'm not on the payroll.

Next is a toss up between the:

Mo Stevens' Jam @ Theos in Grand Prairie (chicken fried steak!), and

Tony DeCiccio's Jam @ the Goat on mondays.

Both of places have absolutely no "Blues Nazi-ing." You can take your blues and funk it up, boogie down, rock it out, or just leave your blues inside that old box full of 1-4-5 shuffles and grinders. What I really like is that the crowd and fellow musician's are there with you there on the stage, they give a nod, a smile or a wink if you mess up, but overall they are rooting for you to do good, aint no hatin' goin' on here!

Thanks guys...I'll have to check into some of those places...

Yeah thanks Rob- And you should be a litttle Bias--You guys sound GREAT at The Cottage-yall be SLAMMIN Now- Gonna be checkin it out when we get the chance- keep an eye out for The Rockin Robert T. Band- Love ya my brothers-rrt

FYI.  I host a jam every Monday with Linda Waring on Drums and Bobby Counts  on bass.  This all happens at the 50/50 Club on jacksboro hway inside the 820 loop.  Starts at 8, come on out, very relaxed atmosphere.

Thanks Michael...I will have to try to check that out soon. What would I need to bring? Guitar? Amp? Anything else?

Guitar and amp would be your best bet.  Never know what might be available.

Another option is Sunday nights at the Cowtown Bar and Grill, corner of Alta Mere and Camp Bowie. This is a jam hosted by Tracy Tyler on Drums, Mike Brown on Bass and yours truly on guitar.  Really laid back and fun time every Sunday night. it is another 8pm start.

Hey Michael,

Good to see you back on here. Yeah, Righteous, you should check out Michael's jam. It's in your neck of the woods. And he's a great player. Worth it to just show up and hear him play if you get the chance.

Hey Michael Schaefer and Terrence Righteous-Just sent friendship request to Michael Lee- Havent caught his act yet but gonna try to- Am friends with Linda Waring on fb- Met her when she played with Johnny Nitzinger in Amarillo Tx back in the 70's-rrt

Just to clarify - The Jailhouse jam takes place every Sunday.

Great place - Great people. Our first time there, my wife and I were bored on a Sunday, and went strolling through Old Town Spring - She heard live music, so we followed it over to the Jailhouse, where The Charlie Parker band was finishing up their opening set. We felt a little out of place at first (me in my plaid shorts...) but we hung out and caught some great acts. A couple weeks later we found ourselves there again. Being the "new guy" Charlie didn't trust loaning me his guitar (HA!)... So, I ran home and grabbed my stuff. Jammed with some great cats, and crowd was very welcoming to the "Newbie". Since then, it's become my regular Sunday afternoon hangout. We've played a couple opening spots there, and now we've got our first full gig there on July 2nd. Looking forward to it.

Also, thanks to the connections I've made through Jailhouse, I'm replacing Eddie Van Halen in some band called Van Halen, and Valerie Bertinelli is trying to "Friend" me on Facebook...

Ok, some of those facts might have been made up.... But, my band IS playing there on July 2nd.

And if you ever need some awesome back-beats, Tim Hutto is usually there. He even knows a couple front-beats too.
