I was discussing with TBR member James Zvetina about his pic of the very rare American D5T Mic which had reminded me of one type of Electrovoice 664 of which I had a couple of in the 1960's (I was very young- lol) and was wondering if anyone remembers The old Electrovice Series Mics from that era and would anyone have a story or a pic-does anyone actually have any of this vintage gear??- How about you James Zvetina- are you familiar with any of this gear??

Hi Rob,

don't have any of the EV mic's although I know they are popular among several harp players because they sound great & are easy to cup in the hands. I'm not sure however if model 664 is the mic though as the pic I came up with for an EV 664 is some sort of space age looking stick type mic-which looks like a very cool mic also.

I think that perhaps you may be thinking of a mic in the 600 series though which encompasses several EV models that are more similar/closer to the bullet style mic's. There are great pictures of these on the harmonicamasterclass.com website which has the largest pic collection of vintage microphones (complete with commentary) that I am aware of, in addition to also having a very nice amplifier section as well. Definitely worth checking out.

Vintage gear heaven. Make you drool lookin at some of the stuff they have on there. It has been a very helpful site to me as far as some of the gear I have aquired/tried to aquire.

I'll probably post some more pics of my gear on my page as I have several vintage mics & some other nice equipment I've aquired over the years before my wife started kicking my tail for spending too much time on ebay & whatnot (lol).

You were right James Zvetina- The 664 was rhe bullit mic- Can't recall the model number of the mic I was checking about- At one particular time in the 60's that is all we used was the 664 bullit- could get one antwhere fo 20 bucks- But they seened to work for the vocals for the day, I checked out all you helpful links and sill didn't see the mic that I had first thoughy I had seen and I don't remember the model no.- I'll do a little diggingf and see what I can come up with- Anyway its  awesome going down that memory trail James- Thanks for the info and for joining the disscussion- Have a great day my friend-rrt
