Stephen Bruton Tribute Video by J. Mitchell Johnson

With the help of a team of tireless volunteers, in a week's time I wrote

and directed the creation of this 12 minute video honoring the life of

the now late, great, and Fort Worth-born performing artist, Stephen

Bruton. The video was produced for a November 13, 2009 Lone Star

International Film Festival event where Kris Kristofferson personally

accepted the first annual Bruton Award for excellence in the performing

The Bluebird Blues Club

Anyone know anything about this club in Fort Worth? We talked to a fella at The Keys not long ago and I'm sorry that I did not get his name. He was saying that this club had closed but is soon to reopen.

Wish I could hear what you do with them, but my connection is real slow out here - too slow to hear them coherently over the player. I played them in a slow 6/8 blues tempo and also doubled up in more of a swing tempo. Nice.

I've been planning to go all week and now that Sunday's here, I'm not sure I'll want to get out tonight. I'll be playing the Tuesday and Friday jams at the Cottage, and expect to get over to Kenny Chavez' jam at Strokers on Wednesday.
