For you bass players out there, the same concept applies. I've worked with a few younger (and some older) players who have difficulty playing some lines because they haven't been shown the basics like hand and finger positions.

Cool again! While you are doing all that, add a switch to allow use of EL34's in the output :-) Plus a bias control to fine tune bias. Michael - That is English! You're a techie guy. You can learn this! Did you look at that stuff I…

Cool. Put a 5AR4/GZ34 rectifer in there if you want a little cleaner sound (a little higher voltage output than a 5U4GB and less voltage sag under load). The 5AR4 has a controlled warm up filament so the standby switch being on when the power is…

A little about me

I started playing bass when I was about 14. Rock mostly with a little jazz and country thrown in. I stopped playing when I was about 20 and didn't play for about 10 years (a mistake!). I started playing again when I was about 30 and have been playing fairly steady since then. When I moved to Dallas in 1994, the first guy I hooked up with was Tommy Arnold. He and I played together for a couple of years. Tommy is still one of my favorite guitar players in the DFW area! Since then I've been in a couple of blues bands and got into jazz about a dozen years ago. I've been in a combo at Collin College for the past 6 years. I've also played bass in a jazz big band at the school. Most of my playing is on electric but I added upright to the mix a while back. I love the sound but it is a physical workout at times (playing and hauling it around). I recently started getting out to Hash Brown's and Joe Tyler's jams. I hadn't gone to a jam in a long time and forgot how much fun it can be! Give me a drummer with a good shuffle and I'm pretty happy!

Behzad - Your English is fine! Nice performance on the slow blues. If you ever travel to the United States, be sure to come to Dallas and go to a blues jam! -Gordon

Yeah, the 15s and 12s are not ideal and, frankly, I rarely haul the 15s farther than my backyard stage, but its what I have at present. I'm looking for a good 2-12 cabinet and I'll save the 15s for a house bass cabinet. Still I can't praise the bassman head high enough, especially for guitar and harp!

Cool. Don't see many guitar or harp guys using 15's (or 2x10). I have a '66 Bassman with 2x12 that's my next project or maybe I need to finish the Dynaco tube preamp, or any number of other things!

Hi and thanks for the welcome. I'm glad to be here. Yes, it is a blackface Fender bassman head with a 2-15" newer bassman cabinet plus another cabinet with 2-10' celestions to help bring out the highs. It's my favorite rig for guitar, much warmer than my silverface super reverb, and rocks for harp as well.

I just want to add on Gordon's page, if you want to hear some of his fantastic bass playing, take a listen to "Stolen Moments" on my page. That's Gordon on bass. Great player.
