Hi Tracy ,
I just want to comment on Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials.
Just saw them on Fri.. 5-01-09,at the Meridien here in Houston and , baby are they good.
Lil' Ed just burns up that slide guitar and the rest of the band is just as good.At one point during his second set , Ed strapped on a small guitar that looked like it was made out of a shoebox and he played it so fast and loud I thought fo' sho' it was gonna catch on fire.
Also during the second set , Ed invited Miss Sandi Hickey,a local Houston Blues chantreuse who along with her band Brother2Brother opened the show, up on stage with him to do a very excellent git-down version of "Summertime" .So good , in fact , that I'm sure Janis and Big Mama would both approve.
I would recommend Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials to anyone who wants to see and hear the real-deal genuwine thing when it comes to Chicago-style Blues and slide guitar.
